Amazon Introduces Logins For Teen Shoppers

Amazon now lets teens shop with their own account, but with parental approval

Today, Amazon unveiled their all-new "teen accounts" feature, allowing kids aged 13-17 to browse, purchase and stream Amazon products and content using their own private account. Parents can review each item, its cost and the payment method being used before finalizing the transaction.

The new Prime Student plan grants subscribers the same benefits as your normal Amazon Prime subscription, but will cost students a more manageable $5.49 per month-or $49 per year-after a six month free trial. Your teen can also include a personal note like "I need this book for class". Your teens can have their own Amazon login that's linked to your account (and your credit card).

Afterwards, the teen will log into the Amazon App using their own username and password.

Parents can supervise loosely by simply setting a pre-approved spending limit per order, or set it up so they're notified of every order and must approve it. But for parents who don't want to review everything in advance, the option to set pre-approved spending limits is available, too.

Breaking Bad Fans Not Sending Their Best So Wall Is Needed
Joanne Quintana, told KOB 4, the problem had become so serious she felt compelled to seal off the home behind an imposing fence. She says some visitors even steal rocks from the landscaping as souvenirs.

Customers can sign up for the program online, and teens can inform their parents through a text or email of their desire to register.

"Our new monthly payment option lets students enjoy the best of Amazon in a more flexible and simple way", Ellen Kinney, Amazon's director of Prime Student, said in a statement.

Teens can also input a reason they need an item.

However, even in the cases where teens are allowed to place their own orders, parents can receive itemized notifications for every order and they're able to cancel or return items, as usual. Upon receiving such a message (via email and/or text messaging), parents can reply with "Y" or "N" to approve or deny the purchase. "We've listened to families and have built a great experience for both teens and parents", said Michael Carr, Vice President, Amazon Households.
