Iran unveils latest ballistic missile

FIREPOWER Iran has been repeatedly slammed by the US for developing nuclear weapons

President Hassan Rouhani said Friday that Iran would strengthen its weapons capabilities and unveiled a new ballistic missile that can carry multiple warheads.

In February, Iran test-fired the same medium-range type of missile, prompting Trump to say that the United States is "putting Iran on notice".

The unveiling of the new missile comes two months after Iran launched a missile into space, prompting a new round of sanctions and criticism from the United States.

"The weight of the Khorramshahr missile's warhead has been announced to be 1,800 kg (4,000 lbs), ... making it Iran's most powerful missile for defence and retaliation against any aggressive enemy", state television said.

The Khorramshahr missile has a range of roughly 1,200 miles and can carry multiple warheads.

The Khoramshahr missile was first displayed at a military parade on Friday in Tehran.

"Khorramshahr with an effectual range and unique qualities features an agile missile", Brigadier General Amir Hatami was quoted as saying.

Rouhani said the United States and Israel have isolated themselves by opposing the 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and the other major powers.

India and Australia would be considering this series to be a precursor for their preparations for the 2019 World Cup in England. During an interview post the practice match, he said, "He is obviously a very good player and has a phenomenal ODI record".

Iran's Revolutionary Guard on Friday unveiled its latest ballistic missile capable of reaching much of the Middle East, including Israel, while the country's president vowed that Tehran would press ahead with its missile program in defiance of USA demands to the contrary.

Iran has insisted the missiles are not created to carry nuclear weapons and is not in violation of the resolution.

Fitzpatrick agrees it would be a good idea to extend the Iran nuclear deal to include ballistic missiles.

In his address, Mr Trump also described Iran as a "corrupt dictatorship" and accused the country of exporting "violence, bloodshed and chaos" throughout the Middle East.

"The missile has become smaller in size (compared to other Iranian ballistic missiles) and more tactical, and it will be operational in the near future", Hajizadeh told reporters on Friday.

Criticism by the Trump administration of the 2015 nuclear deal has focused heavily on Tehran's continuing missile program.

The president called on the world to join the U.S.
