Ryanair passengers who re-booked flights pay again for extras

Ryanair 20m euro compensation mess

He added: "Pilots' rejection of a one-off bonus to work extra hours - a move that management would have liked to pull off in order to lessen the damage being done - has investors anxious that not only may more flights be cancelled, but also that Ryanair is walking into a protracted battle with pilots at the very worst moment".

James Daley, director at Fairer Finance, another consumer group, said: "Ryanair has made this mistake and it needs to be gong out of its way to help customers claim what they are rightfully owed".

Ryanair passengers have been left stranded for days at a time, with some desperate to get back to young children and others racking up huge and unexpected bills as they are forced to stay overseas for longer than planned.

Some Ryanair passengers who re-booked flights after the airline announced mass cancellations have reported having to pay again if they had chosen to pick seats or take hold luggage.

"Every day there are vacancies advertised with attractive packages attempting to entice pilots to relocate to Asia, and in some cases even allowing pilots to be based locally at home", says OAG's latest blog.

Pilots in Stansted, Frankfurt and Berlin will also be offered the same amount - as the company says traditionally they don't want to base themselves in these locations.

Michael O'Leary insisted there is no problem between the airline and its pilots.

Hurricane Jose maintains Category 1 status, winds
As with any weather forecast, and as we have seen with Hurricane Irma, hurricane tracks and intensities can change overnight. Even the GFS, which initially showed Irma headed towards a SC landfall, agrees with the European model about Jose, she said.

What should I do if my flight is cancelled?

Ryanair will also need to spend an extra €30m on hiring pilots.

Since Mr O'Leary became chief executive of Ryanair in 1994, it has grown rapidly to become the biggest budget airline in Europe - and by far the most profitable.

He is planning to take back one week of its pilots' holidays to prevent any further flight cancellations, boss Michael O'Leary has revealed.

Has your flight been cancelled? "We don't have enough pilots in September and October to allocate leave".

In better news for the carrier, the meeting saw shareholders approved all resolutions by substantial majorities.

Ryanair has said it expects to have re-accommodated more than 95% of the 315,000 customers affected by cancellations by end of this week.
